DEAN'S CONCERT AT KOKO LONDON WITH SAAY, MISO AND 2XXX!

On the 24th and 25th of June, DEAN held his first two concerts in London. It was something that everyone was waiting for in anticipation since his surprise appearance at Crush’s London concert last year. At the time he was in London, recording along with Millic (and you should really check out his first album Vida). Now, he came to give the crowd what the crowd wanted: a full on DEAN concert!

YES LONDON! CRUSH, ZICO THEN DEAN.

We have seen all of the Bermuda triangle - if only we had all of them together it would have been another level of epic!

REBELS EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK.

As I was going alone this time and summer is at its peak, I decided to show up at the venue just a bit before the doors open. My plan was to relax close to the bar with a cold beer in hand and enjoy the music. Approaching Koko from its back/artist entry my surprise grew bigger and bigger at the number of people queuing to get in and as I turn the corner to the small square in front of the venue, my jaw drops...

DO ALL THESE PEOPLE ACTUALLY FIT IN?!?!

...And so, at 5:45, I join the queue impatient to get in and away from the burning sun.

Needless to say, it took a looong time to get in. The doors did not open at 6, at least not for GA, but DEAN and Saay took care of the REBELS. He ordered 100 pizzas for the fans waiting outside, while Saay made sure they were not getting bored and came out a few times to greet the crowd. Me, way back at the end of the line only saw this going on online while checking Instagram. But there were plenty of other things to keep me entertained while waiting.

KPOP CONCERT FASHION.

One thing I really love about kpop concerts in London is the fashion style of people attending. Fashion game is strong among kpop fans and I kid you not. Every time attending a kpop concert I felt like the queue was a runway.

Balenciaga, Gucci, Off-white, Comme des Garçon, Supreme, Palace … you get to see it all. Outfits so cool you might think it’s a London fashion week event.

KOKO LONDON.

I have never been inside Koko before, therefore I was pleasantly surprised by the venue’s interior. It’s old theathre red interior is simply stunning. With loads of different floors and balconies, the only thing it is missing is a gradient flooring on the main area so everyone can get a proper view even when at the bar which is at the back end of the venue.

SAAY SLAY.

The opening act was a blast! I wasn't familiar with Slaay’s music but her stage charisma and energy is so contagious it literally lit up the place from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds.

MISO.

Miso soup miso soup! Aaah this post is going to be live even later I need to make myself a miso soup - love it!

Aaanyway, Miso has a mellow sound which after the very pumped up performance from Saay didn’t quite leave a mark on me. She has studied at Red Bull Music Academy in Paris and the songs were very much enjoyable and you could tell they were the result of a lot of hard work from a talented person. Just maybe not really the setting to grab my attention. Will probably spend some time on her SoundCloud digesting her songs while sipping a glass of wine though.

DEAN.

When DEAN finally came on stage the crowd was raging. I was happy that for once I was far back and had some distance. We all know, even DEAN knows that London fans are “CRAZY”. One thing I really enjoyed was that DEAN every time he interacted with the public he spoke English only. It was refreshing to be able to actually understand every single word and not trying to guess every sentence based on those few words I did understand. For once as a non Korean speaking person I did not feel like an “outsider” which felt amazing.

AFTER PARTY?!

After DEAN’s set we could say there was a proper after party even though there wasn't one in the marketing materials or event details. And compared to after parties you had to pay for this one was 100% attended by DEAN, Miso, Saay plus a few friends of them and everyone was dancing and singing and heaving a blast on the 2XXX!’s mix which had international songs spinning.

Check out the video footage I took from my bar-side spot and pleace excuse the beginner edith as it is the first video I ever put together (promise to keep learning and doing a better job in the future!)
